The horrors of war
Rosscoe | Funny | 31st 07, 2008| No Comments »

Ever wondered what it was like to be in one of the most famous prisoner of war camps? Well now you can find out with Colditz: the board game…

colditz

That’s right folks, now you can experience sheer unrelenting hell in your own living room (more so than watching big brother).

Apparently one of the players has to be a nazi. I think I’ll wait until they bring out KKK twister, where all the circles are white.

Things to note in this clip when an earthquake is caught live on Judge Judy:

  1. Judge Judy without a word bolts for the exit with no regard for the public in the room,
  2. the defendant in the show who stays at his post and looks guilty of farting,
  3. and finally, kudos to the cameramen who stay at their posts and film the event.

For some reason I feel Judge Judy should have calmed her audience instead of just bolting, she is the ‘captain’ and if need be should go down with ship. Thats my thoughts, whats everyone elses?

EuroFighter is Wiuld!
Craig | Science | 28th 07, 2008| No Comments »

Was at East Fortune Air Show outside Edinburgh at the weekend, it wasnt too bad but the main attraction was watching the EuroFighter Typhoon F2. Its the new fighter replacing the Tornado in the RAF and its pretty pimped out, in fact you talk to the aircraft to manage some of the systems and armaments but it does cost a cool $58 million. Anyhow, here is a picture I took of the Eurofighter from the show.

The smokey like appearance coming from the wings are actually small ‘clouds’ forming. The velocity of the air passing over the wing/fuselage decreases the pressure so much that it condenses the water particles present, creating ‘clouds’. This is a very common effect and can usually be seen at the wing tips of aircraft.

Geek talk over. Finally its so powerful it can make children cry! When the pilot gave it a bit of juice on the accelerator there were thunderous booms that sent the children running in all directions, never a bad thing for a machine built for war.

Skittle People

Someone recently said ’skittles’ and I say that although we should be aware of their synthetic badness we can still laugh with joyous abandon at their adverts.

If you liked that then do go on…

Don’t Be Denied

The only Neil Percival Young album yet to have a CD release is ‘Time Fades Away’ (1973). I’ve heard it said that it is Young’s least favourite of his albums (he should give ‘Landing on Water’ another listen, and then apologise) but it is my favourite, and stands as the wayward, rebellious sibling to ‘Tonight’s the Night’ and ‘On the Beach’ (yes, even more wayward and rebellious than those bad boys). If you haven’t heard it then seek it out. Its hard to find any youtube clips of these songs, but I suddenly stumbled across this gem and was moved to share:

This dreamy ramble is basically the story of his life up until that point, and has a great message for all us kids trembling in the face of uncertain futures with strong eyes, weak bladders and sore scrotums. It also has an extra verse not on the album and Joni Mitchell appears in usual meerkat fashion to go ‘wooahooaoaoaahoooahoahoahaoaowowowowowo’ and then disappear back into the manor.(Please note the amazing Crosby head bobs at 6.20)

batman

…and yes it is. Brilliant.

That’s essentially my review.

I want Batman to have my babies, despite the fact that neither of us have ovaries.

milkshakes

This is kinda cool. New Scientist has an article about how Human breast milk can change its flavour depending on the diet of the mother;

“Human milk provides a veritable cornucopia of different flavour combinations that may prime a child to try new foods later on.”

Cocoon-ness

Seriously, these guys are so sweet they make me feel like I’ve overdosed on Skittles. Here’s the powerfully worded ‘I don’t give a shit’, but It’s such a nice song I can’t help feel they don’t mean it. And they are sitting on washing machines. And they use the phrase “I feel like a popcorn”. And their lovely accents make it sound like they are saying that they don’t give a “Shet”. Greatness.

not as sunny as may appear

The Edinburgh Jazz and blues festival started yesterday, the beginning of a chain that continues with random-ness, madness and potential death. Join us.

And no; chances are the weather won’t be like the photo above. We don’t have good weather: We just have tears.

no good?

So yeah… this sit-com…’How I met your mother‘…the one that apparently had Britney Spears in it recently for no good reason…well i accidentally watched an episode and I found that it has Alyson Hannigan (from the Buffy) in it and Dr Horrible, Neil Patrick Harris, who was great as the musical evyil man.

I don’t know if it’s a good show…. I can’t figure out who’s the what and the why, but them’s good actors.

And yes I do apologise for the alarming crotch action in the photo above.

Ever sat there watching an episode of ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ and think to yourself amid all the jumps and chases… “Boss Hogg looks familiar?” Well I have….

Boss Hogg looks a lot like conspiracy advocate and British passport seeker Mohamed Al Fayed.

Two things I like: music and animation. You can imagine my joy when I get both. There are lots of great animated music videos out there, which I shall seek and inhale in time. Here’s some right now though…
