Was at East Fortune Air Show outside Edinburgh at the weekend, it wasnt too bad but the main attraction was watching the EuroFighter Typhoon F2. Its the new fighter replacing the Tornado in the RAF and its pretty pimped out, in fact you talk to the aircraft to manage some of the systems and armaments but it does cost a cool $58 million. Anyhow, here is a picture I took of the Eurofighter from the show.

The smokey like appearance coming from the wings are actually small ‘clouds’ forming. The velocity of the air passing over the wing/fuselage decreases the pressure so much that it condenses the water particles present, creating ‘clouds’. This is a very common effect and can usually be seen at the wing tips of aircraft.
Geek talk over. Finally its so powerful it can make children cry! When the pilot gave it a bit of juice on the accelerator there were thunderous booms that sent the children running in all directions, never a bad thing for a machine built for war.
