I am somewhat of a fan of Charlie Brooker. He is funny and hateful in equal measure. His previous TV writing work left me a little dissapointed (not including the awesomeness that everyone must see that is screen wipe) but this new one looks a treat.
The idea is that the idiotic human scum who appear in ‘Big Brother’ (I’m using less than half of the vitriol that Brooker uses when describing these people) well they find themselves exiting the ‘BB’ house to a zombie holocaust. Yes. BIG BROTHER TWATS MEET ZOMBIES!! It sounds amazing.
It’s called ‘Dead set’ and here’s what Brooker says;
Time passed. And then one night I was watching Big Brother when another thought struck me. All zombie movies eventually boil down to a siege situation. What better place to hide than a fortified house thronged with cameras? Every person in the country must’ve fantasised at some point about what would happen if some terrible apocalypse occurred during a run of Big Brother, leaving the contestants oblivious. So that would be the starting point.
Dead Set very much isn’t The Wire; instead, it’s unashamed populist schlock. Warped and disgusting populist schlock, I hope, but shlock nonetheless.
And finally, I tried to find an advert so that I could help promote the show, but all the ones I’ve found are not allowed to be embedded, so I can only thank their marketing/legal department, then pander to their wishes and direct you HERE to a youtubey ad, and then to stop myself hating the very fingers i’m using to type this, let’s watch some unconnected happy happy joy joy
Dead set is on channel 4 E4 (British box) on monday tonight and should be watched by all.
EDIT: I said channel 4. It’s not it’s E4.

Being a big fan of the futurama series myself (rating it higher than Simpsons and Family Guy) I can’t wait for the new movie to come out, which it does so on the 4th of November. Although the first movie (Benders Big Score) was a bit disjointed and maybe forced at some points it was still highly watchable. The second (The Beast With A Billion Backs) solved the odd moments that the first had but struggled with the pace of the story. But I believe the Futurama crew are getting used to a different style of story telling away from the 20minute episodes which they did so well and are hopefully going to nail the head on this one, if not they’ve only got one more planned movie after this.
