This is a purely personal thing… one of my favourite shows is Magnum P.I and one of my favourite films is Star Wars but to put them together?? Is that too much geek?? I don’t think so… but then I think there’s nothing wrong with white socks and sandals.
A live tour of monsters and music from Dr Who, complete with newly shot footage has made me have to change my trousers. Twice. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, as this countdown widget subtly shows…
Thanks to Nicola for the heads up.
This is the most moving piece of animation ever made. Never before have I cared so much about a child’s footware situation. My God I hope he gets shoes. Rest assured when this comes out I will track down a copy and let you know what happens…
The earth can be a pretty pretty pretty impressive thing sometimes, and I am glad to be considered one of its close and personal friends. Seriously, it like texts me at least 3 times a day. This beautiful time-lapse of the recent Icelandic volcano shows us how lucky we have been for so long. Missing a flight is not so bad. Living next to it might cause problems. Hey, at least it didn’t explode, or worse… at least an army of Mole-Men didn’t jump out and enslave the human race. Yet.

Let’s be clear: I hate dancing. It’s stoopid, It makes me tired and most importantly I can’t do it. But there is one type of dance I like, and by using the words ’10 Cartoon Dances’ in the post title I really don’t need to waste any more of our time for the slow reveal of what type of dancing that is. It’s cartoon dancing.
Here are some of the cartoon people dancing that make me Mr gigglyface…
This award winning short animation will screw with your mind man!! Backwards is the thing, and watch out for the twisty nutsy ending… which is the start of it…but at the end…
So there is this thing called StoryCorps…
Since 2003, over 50,000 people have shared life stories with family and friends through StoryCorps. Each conversation is recorded on a free CD to share, and is preserved at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. StoryCorps is one of the largest oral history projects of its kind…
Brilliant. I think this is such an important way of making sure history reads us all the way we are.
And now, They’ve animated 5 short films based on some of those conversations. How can I not post this? HOW? TELL ME FUTURE PEOPLE!!???!!!
WARNING: This will be the sweetest animation you will have seen for a while…
Q&A from StoryCorps on Vimeo.

Very soon they will be releasing the Guy Ritchie (boo) directed Sherlock Holmes (yay) film starring Robert Downey Jr (yay) and Rachel McAdams (yay), with Jude Law (booyay!?) on DVD. I have not seen that film, mainly because it doesn’t have any dinosaurs in it (as is my want).
I’m sure you are all in the same position as me; you like Holmes and you all like dinosaurs, but can’t find a place where these two passions meet. Until now. Ladies and gentlemen let me introduce you to this film, available on DVD now in shops and other places. It is called ‘Sherlock Holmes’. There are dragons and ‘cyber-men’ and dinosaurs… but it all starts with a simple GIANT OCTOPUS ATTACK!!!!!!!
Spoilers within…
I’d rather you wouldn’t, but ‘Call me Ishmael’ is the name of the awesome Glasgow based band called ‘Call me Ishmael’. Check out the cool and impressive music video with animated monsters running amuck in town.
(extra cool points for the Wilhelm scream in there). Thanks To Mr Putt for the heads up.
Here’s what I will be watching this week rather than washing my stinky weedy body and teaching the homeless how to tile my bathroom…
Channel 4 Alternative Election Night
The election looms. Very few things in life ‘loom’. I believe an election is one of them. Tall people also loom…but we can kill them with smaller doorways. So many things are different in this election (…?…) and one of the most important to me (beyond changing things) is that we can maybe watch the results with a bit of a sense of humour.
Another cop drama? Maybe. But this one stars (gasp!!) A Black Man! And interestingly, this guy is going to play a Norse God in the upcoming Marvel Thor film, directed by Kenneth “sweats Shakespeare” Branagh. Ignoring all that Hollywod bullcrap (Hollyshit), it looks pretty darned good in it’s own right…
To be honest, I can’t quite figure out if this is genius or glorified bullying. Pilkington is just too funny not to mention. Plus I will assume Gervais loves him dearly as we all would, thus making the whole thing morally acceptable. Question mark smiley face.
I’m a bit pissed off that i missed the first episode of this, but no doubt I shall settle down and get over it…
…otherwise the big bouncy balls will come after me.
